Ankara: Trkiye's private sector loans reached $175.7 billion as of November 2024, experiencing a decrease of $14.03 billion from the end of 2023 and $797 million from the previous month, Trkiye's Central Bank announced on Thursday.
According to Anadolu Agency, long-term loans amounted to $160 billion, reflecting a reduction of $1.6 billion, while short-term loans stood at $15.7 billion, increasing by $780 million. The composition of the long-term loans revealed that the US dollar accounted for 59.2%, the euro 33.3%, the Turkish lira 2.6%, and other currencies 4.9%.
In the realm of short-term loans, the distribution was noted as 40.6% in US dollars, 16.3% in euros, 39.3% in Turkish lira, and 3.8% in other currencies. The central bank highlighted that the private sector's total outstanding loans sourced from abroad with a remaining maturity of up to one year indicate principal repayments of $52.7 billion by the end of November.
