Astana: Trkiye is set to expand its presence in the global oil industry as the Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) gears up to sign a new contract for operating two oil fields in Kazakhstan. Ahmet Turkoglu, CEO of TPAO, shared this development on Thursday, emphasizing Kazakhstan's strategic importance in the oil and natural gas sector.
According to Anadolu Agency, Turkoglu made the announcement during Kazakhstan Energy Week 2025 in Astana. He highlighted the recent cooperation agreement signed between TPAO and KazMunayGaz, Kazakhstan's national oil company. This agreement is part of a broader effort to explore new opportunities and strengthen bilateral ties in the energy sector.
Turkoglu explained that the cooperation is aimed at exploring new fields under the agreement, with plans to finalize a contract for two new oil fields in Kazakhstan. He also mentioned the significance of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Oil Pipeline, which has begun operations in Kazakhstan, underscoring its importance for Trkiye and neighboring regions as they enter new fields in the area.
