Abu Dhabi: US President Donald Trump acknowledged on Friday that people in the Gaza Strip are facing starvation and committed to addressing the situation. "We want to take care of the people. Look, people are starving," Trump stated during an interview with Fox News in Abu Dhabi, marking the conclusion of his three-nation Middle East tour.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump revealed that a leader he met with during his tour expressed deep concern for the Palestinians, describing their dire situation. Trump noted, "He said they're starving, and he meant it with his heart ... so, I've already started working on that. It's a deep problem, but we'll get it solved." The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has been exacerbated since March 2, when Israel closed Gaza's crossings to food, medical, and humanitarian aid.

In addition to addressing the crisis in Gaza, Trump expressed the necessity of collaborating with Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the ongoing Ukraine war. Trump emphasized his positive relationship with Putin and the potential for negotiations, stating, "I think we'll make a deal. We have to get together, and I think we'll probably schedule it up." The recent Russia-Ukraine talks in Istanbul resulted in an agreement for the largest prisoner-of-war exchange since the conflict began, with both countries consenting to swap 1,000 prisoners each.

Meanwhile, former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced his departure from the ruling People Power Party ahead of the upcoming June 3 presidential election. Yoon, who was ousted by impeachment following his declaration of martial law in December, urged his supporters via Facebook to support the PPP's presidential candidate, Kim Moon-soo.
