Trump Administration Cuts $101M in Diversity Training Grants, Contracts Worth More Than $850M

Washington: The US Education Department has terminated 29 diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training grants totaling $101 million, alongside contracts worth $881 million, as announced by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on X Monday.

According to Anadolu Agency, one of the canceled programs was designed to train teachers to help students understand and interrogate complex histories related to oppression and recognize areas of privilege and power. This development follows President Donald Trump's executive orders targeting DEI initiatives, with a particular focus on the military, which he alleges deteriorated under former President Joe Biden's administration.

In addition, the Education Department ended 89 contracts worth $881 million. Among these was a $1.5 million contract intended for a contractor to observe mailing and clerical operations at a mail center.

President Trump has tasked Elon Musk, the head of DOGE, with auditing the Pentagon and Education Department to uncover what he describes as 'billions, hundreds of millions of dollars of fraud and abuse.'
