Washington:US President Donald Trump announced that 'superintelligence' will be a key topic in his discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to Anadolu Agency, Trump referred to artificial intelligence as 'superintelligence' and indicated it would be a significant subject during their meeting. Trump made these comments on his Truth Social platform prior to the leaders' meeting in Washington, DC.
The meeting is expected to cover a range of topics, including artificial intelligence, trade, rare earth minerals, and broader geopolitical tensions. Trump's proposal to rename artificial intelligence as 'superintelligence' was introduced earlier this week at the UN General Assembly.
On Wednesday, Trump personally welcomed Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan at Joint Base Andrews, marking a rare occasion since 1962 for a US leader to receive a foreign dignitary on the base tarmac. Trump described Xi as looking "strong, vibrant, and fit," and praised Madam Xi as "beautiful" in a separate social media post.
The agenda for Thursday includes an official welcome and military review at the White House, followed by closed-door talks between the leaders. The day will conclude with a state dinner hosted by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, with prominent figures such as Elon Musk, Jensen Huang, Tim Cook, and Sam Altman expected to attend.
Trump and Xi are scheduled to meet again on Friday before Xi's departure from Washington.
