Washington: US President Donald Trump announced that the US military will temporarily pause Project Freedom, aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The decision was made following requests from Pakistan and other countries and reflects what Trump described as a 'tremendous military success' in the US campaign involving Iran.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump stated that the pause in Project Freedom will allow for the potential finalization of an agreement with Iran. Despite the pause, the blockade in the region will remain in effect. Trump's announcement emphasized ongoing negotiations with Iranian representatives and showcased the significant progress made during the campaign.

Iran, meanwhile, has condemned the United Arab Emirates for its cooperation with 'hostile parties' and rejected claims of missile or drone attacks on the UAE. Iran's Foreign Ministry has accused Abu Dhabi of housing US and Israeli military forces, which it views as threats to regional stability. The ministry has called on the UAE to avoid involvement with adversarial actors and pledged commitment to international law, while reserving the right to protect its national interests.

In a separate development, the United Nations has urged the release of two activists from the Global Sumud humanitarian aid flotilla, detained by Israel. Thiago de Avila from Brazil and Saif Abukeshek, a Spanish activist of Palestinian origin, remain in custody following an Israeli court's decision to extend their detention. Their lawyers argue that the allegations are without merit, and the UN is advocating for their immediate release.
