Washington: US President Donald Trump announced Thursday that a trade agreement with China was signed on Wednesday, although he withheld specific details about the deal. "Well, we just signed with China yesterday, right? Just signed with China," Trump stated during the One Big Beautiful Bill Event held at the White House. He emphasized that the agreement marks the beginning of opening up Chinese markets, a development that had been previously unachievable.

According to Anadolu Agency, US and Chinese officials convened earlier this month in London to address ongoing tariff issues. In April, the US imposed significant tariffs on Chinese imports, leading to a bilateral agreement in May to roll back some of these tariffs for an initial 90-day period.

In addition to the China deal, Trump hinted at the possibility of a forthcoming trade agreement with India. "We're having some great deals. We have one coming up, maybe with India, a very big one, where we're going to open up India," he mentioned.

Trump also highlighted the financial impact of tariffs, noting that the US has collected $88 billion, which he described as a positive outcome. As part of his broader economic agenda, Trump promoted the One Big Beautiful Bill, a Republican-backed tax and spending cuts legislation, calling it "one of the most important pieces of legislation in the history" of the US. He affirmed that the bill would "secure our borders, turbocharge our economy and bring back the American dream."

The bill's progression follows its narrow approval in the House last month, with Senate Republicans now working to pass it with changes before returning it to the House for final approval. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt mentioned earlier Thursday that Trump is striving to have the bill signed by his July 4 deadline.
