Washington: US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that the United States has commenced efforts to control the Strait of Hormuz amidst ongoing hostilities with Iran. In an interview with Israel's Channel 14, Trump affirmed Washington's capability to assert control over this vital maritime passage by saying, "Yes, sure, it's already happening."

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump emphasized the strong collaboration with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concerning the situation with Iran. He noted the significant level of coordination, stating, "The coordination is very close. We have a good relationship. It couldn't be better."

Trump further commented on Iran's position in the conflict, expressing his belief that Iran is eager for a resolution. He remarked, "I think they want to do (it) very badly. Anybody would want a deal if you are getting decimated, right?"

Since February 28, the US and Israel have been conducting airstrikes on Iran, resulting in over 1,340 casualties, including the death of the former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel and other countries in the region, including Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations with US military installations. These actions have led to casualties, infrastructural damage, and disruptions in global markets and aviation.
