Washington: US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday the potential for a Gaza ceasefire deal with the Palestinian group Hamas to be finalized within the week. "I think there's a good chance we have a deal with Hamas during the week pertaining to quite a few of the hostages. We've gotten a lot of the hostages out, but pertaining to the remaining hostages, quite a few of them will be coming out. We think we'll have that done this week," Trump stated to reporters in Morristown, New Jersey. This announcement comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu travels from Tel Aviv to Washington, DC for discussions with Trump, focusing on regional issues including the Gaza ceasefire and a prisoner swap agreement.

According to Anadolu Agency, the BRICS summit, held on Sunday, condemned the recent Israeli and US military actions against Iran, declaring them a breach of international law and the UN Charter. The joint declaration from the summit expressed serious concern over the escalation of tensions in the Middle East following these strikes. The statement also stressed the importance of maintaining nuclear safeguards and security, particularly in protecting civilian infrastructure and nuclear facilities under the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Additionally, the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization concluded with new objectives for enhancing regional cooperation. The summit, hosted in Khankendi, Azerbaijan, resulted in a joint statement highlighting Azerbaijan's reconstruction and development efforts in the Karabakh and East Zangezur regions. The ECO members emphasized the importance of economic sustainability and climate resilience, agreeing to collaborate on increasing renewable energy capacity, promoting climate-friendly agriculture, and improving water management and biodiversity conservation.
