New York: US President Donald Trump Wednesday called Zohran Mamdani, a strong supporter of Palestine, a "Communist Lunatic" after Mamdani Tuesday night secured enough votes in New York City's Democratic mayoral primary to position himself as the likely winner.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump stated, "It's finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line. Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor." Trump expressed his disapproval in a post on Truth Social, characterizing Mamdani as a radical and criticized his appearance and intelligence.

Trump further claimed, "He's got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him," while referring to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer as 'our Great Palestinian Senator," and accused Schumer of "groveling over" Mamdani. He described this political shift as "a big moment" in US history.

In a separate post, Trump offered a suggestion for the Democratic Party, proposing that they nominate Jasmine Crockett as their presidential candidate, with AOC+3 taking key positions, describing this hypothetical scenario as detrimental to the country.

The primary results saw former Governor Andrew Cuomo concede defeat, paving the way for Zohran Mamdani to potentially become New York City's first Muslim mayor. Mamdani has been a vocal supporter of Palestine and has criticized Israel's military actions. He previously co-founded a chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine at Bowdoin College and participated in a hunger strike camp in 2023 calling for a ceasefire.
