Washington: US President Donald Trump stated on Tuesday that in response to his recent tariff announcements, countries are eager to negotiate, with some even "kissing my a" to secure favorable deals.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump made these remarks during a Republican Party event for campaign donors. Last week, he announced new tariffs on over 180 countries, with rates ranging from 10% to 50%. While Trump had previously hinted at such changes, the extent of these tariffs has unsettled global markets.

Trump also expressed criticism towards certain lawmakers, including those supporting Republican Representative Don Bacon's bill. This bill seeks to limit the duration of his tariffs to 60 days unless Congress provides approval. "And then I'll see some rebel Republican - some guy that wants to grandstand and say: 'I think that Congress should take over negotiations.' Let me tell you, you don't negotiate like I negotiate," Trump stated. He emphasized his confidence in his negotiation skills, a claim he has made since his days as a real estate developer.

White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt reported that nearly 70 countries have approached Trump to initiate negotiations following the tariff announcement. The tariffs against China, specifically raised to 104% after China's retaliatory actions, are set to take effect on Wednesday. Trump acknowledged that the 104% tariffs might "sound ridiculous," but argued that many countries had previously taken advantage of the US, and it was now America's turn to be assertive.

In response to Washington's 104% tariffs, Beijing announced additional tariffs on all US imports, raising them to 84%.
