Washington: US President Donald Trump says Iran is seeking an agreement with the United States as he considers whether to take additional military action against the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, in a phone interview with NewsNation, Trump was questioned about his recent remarks that he was weighing whether to 'annihilate' Iran. Trump responded with, 'We'll see what happens,' indicating that he is carefully considering his next steps.

Asked about his expectations from Iran before making a decision, Trump stated that Tehran is interested in reaching a deal. 'Right now, they want to make a deal,' Trump said, further elaborating on his belief that Iran is 'losing in every way' both financially and militarily. He emphasized the importance of the terms of any potential agreement, saying, 'If the deal's not a correct deal, then I wouldn't even think about it.'

Furthermore, Trump mentioned ongoing discussions with Yemen's Houthi group, suggesting that they are also interested in negotiating a deal. Trump's remarks come as the US-Iran war enters its seventh month. He has recently expressed hope that the conflict might be nearing an end, although he warned that he is close to deciding on whether to launch another significant attack against Iran.
