Beirut: US President Donald Trump on Monday dismissed reports that the US military is experiencing shortages of missile interceptors and other munitions, attributing the depletion to the previous administration under President Biden, which he accused of sending substantial amounts of weapons to Ukraine.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump addressed concerns about the decline in US munitions, stating that the country possesses "a lot of ammunition, different types." He emphasized that while the US had provided significant military aid to Ukraine, efforts are underway to replenish these supplies rapidly. "Biden gave a lot to Ukraine, and so we're building that up. But we have a lot. We have a lot of the mid-level stuff too. I mean, more than we could ever use," Trump assured reporters.

Trump further expressed a desire to expand the US's munitions reserves, acknowledging the substantial aid sent to Ukraine by the Biden administration as a factor in current stock levels. He reiterated, "I'd like to have more, to be honest. But so much was given to Ukraine by Biden."

The President also highlighted that the US is accelerating the rebuilding of its munitions stockpile in response to these concerns. His statements were made following reports suggesting that the administration had postponed a significant military campaign against Iran due to diplomatic considerations and the potential impact of diminishing US munitions reserves.
