Sanaa: US President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that there is no tension with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, despite having recently ordered a complete halt to trade with Spain. His comments came after Spain's narrow 1-0 victory over Argentina in the FIFA World Cup final.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Trump expressed his admiration for Spain's performance and congratulated Spanish officials on their "great team," describing the final as an "exciting" and "great event." He denied any disappointment over Argentina's loss, asserting that Spain played better, although acknowledging it was a closely contested match.

These remarks signify a notable change in tone from earlier this month when Trump had criticized Spain, calling it a "wasted cause" and a "terrible partner in NATO." The criticism stemmed from Spain's refusal to permit American forces access to its bases during the conflict with Iran and its reluctance to meet a 5% defense spending target.

During a news conference at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, Trump had emphatically instructed to "cut off all trade with Spain," labeling the Spanish as "hopeless, bad people."
