Beijing: US President Donald Trump announced that the United States secured 'a lot of great trade deals' with China, including significant purchases of aircraft and engines, following discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One after leaving China, Trump described the visit as highly successful.
According to Anadolu Agency, the agreements involve Chinese commitments to purchase over 200 Boeing aircraft, along with a pledge for 750 additional planes. The deals also include the acquisition of between 400 and 450 engines from General Electric. Trump emphasized that these agreements would significantly benefit American farmers and the broader US economy.
During the talks, Trump and Xi did not address the issue of tariffs. Trump noted that while China is currently paying substantial tariffs, the topic was not brought up during their discussions. Additionally, the two leaders touched on the issue of Taiwan, with Trump making no commitments regarding the island. He mentioned that Xi is keen to avoid conflict.
On the subject of potential US arms sales to Taiwan, Trump stated he would decide 'over the next short period.' He also spoke on the ongoing tensions with Iran, expressing openness to Tehran suspending its nuclear program for 20 years, provided that any guarantees are legitimate. Trump dismissed recent Iranian proposals, indicating that he does not engage with proposals he finds unsatisfactory from the outset.
Trump also addressed reports concerning Iran's missile capabilities, denying that Iran retains a significant missile stockpile. He claimed that Iran's missile reserves had been reduced by 80% due to the US conflict with Iran. Following discussions with Xi, Trump is considering lifting sanctions on Chinese companies purchasing Iranian oil, with a decision expected in the coming days.
