Doha: Donald John Trump Jr., US President Donald Trump's eldest son, emphasized on Sunday that the United States will not act as "the big idiot with the checkbook" regarding international matters. Speaking at the 23rd edition of the Doha Forum in Qatar, Trump Jr. highlighted the unwillingness of the US public to fund global initiatives that offer no direct benefit to them.

According to Anadolu Agency - English, Trump Jr. stated that the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine is not a priority for the American people. He argued that US operations in the Caribbean against drug trafficking are of greater concern and pose a more immediate threat to the United States than the situation in Ukraine and Russia.

Trump Jr. also expressed a desire for peace in Ukraine, while urging European nations to take on more responsibility. He referred to criticisms faced by his father, President Trump, who was initially labeled as someone who might incite global conflict, but instead worked to de-escalate tensions in various regions.

He praised Qatar for its collaboration with the US during the Gaza peace talks, noting that Doha was focused on achieving genuine peace rather than enhancing its own image. Trump Jr. reiterated that Washington's main focus is domestic investment but stressed that the US will continue to compete with China over rare earth minerals.

In response to questions about US involvement in Gaza's reconstruction, Trump Jr. affirmed the US's role but clarified that there is no public support for America to shoulder the entire burden.
