Trump Labels CBS Interview with Harris as ‘Biggest Broadcasting Scandal in History’

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Thursday accused CBS News of defrauding the public and committing the 'biggest broadcasting scandal in history.' On his social media platform Truth Social, he voiced outrage over the alleged manipulation of an interview on CBS' 60 Minutes program with then-Vice President Kamala Harris last year, when she and Trump were facing off to capture the White House.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump claimed that CBS and 60 Minutes defrauded the public by removing what he described as Kamala Harris's "horrible election changing answers" to questions, replacing them with different answers from another part of the interview. In response to Trump's accusations, CBS aired an unedited version of Harris's interview from last fall, asserting that journalistic edits for time, space, and clarity are a regular practice and are always guided by the truth.

On Truth Social, Trump further accused the airing of the edited interview of being 'Election changing 'stuff,' Election Interference and, quite simply, Election Fraud at a level never seen before.' He called for CBS to lose its license and demanded the termination of 60 Minutes, questioning whether CBS was compensated for the alleged fraud.

Trump's contentious relationship with the media, especially mainstream outlets, has been a hallmark of his first term and beyond, frequently calling for the revocation of broadcast licenses of channels like CBS and MSNBC.
