Washington: US President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that he is not prepared to make a deal with Iran to resolve the escalating conflict in the Middle East. Trump asserted that the current terms proposed for any potential agreement are inadequate, withholding further details on what conditions would make a deal acceptable.

According to Anadolu Agency, during a phone interview with NBC News, Trump expressed that Iran's willingness to negotiate is not enough to sway him into action, citing unsatisfactory terms as the primary reason for delay. He indicated that a pivotal element of any agreement would involve Iran's commitment to cease its nuclear ambitions.

Trump also remarked on his surprise regarding Iran's retaliatory attacks on other nations following US-Israeli military operations. He described American strikes on Kharg Island as having significantly damaged the island's military capabilities, suggesting further strikes might occur.

In a separate statement on his Truth Social account, Trump mentioned international efforts to maintain the openness and safety of the Strait of Hormuz, highlighting that several countries, including China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, might join the United States in deploying warships to the region.

Addressing concerns over the Strait of Hormuz, Trump noted uncertainty about Iran's potential deployment of mines and emphasized plans for rigorous sweeping operations. He mentioned the possibility of the US Navy escorting commercial vessels but did not provide a definitive confirmation.
