Tokyo: US President Donald Trump declared that the relationship between the United States and Japan is set to reach unprecedented strength during his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi in Tokyo. Trump expressed his long-standing admiration for Japan and emphasized the strong alliance between the two nations, pledging unwavering support to Tokyo.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump highlighted Japan’s increasing military capacity and noted that Washington has received orders for a significant amount of new military equipment. He also mentioned that bilateral trade has reached historical levels, with plans to sign a new, fair trade deal. Trump congratulated Takaichi on her historic role as the first woman prime minister of Japan.

Prime Minister Takaichi expressed her desire to realize a new golden age of the Japan-US alliance, where both countries would grow stronger and more prosperous. She appreciated Trump’s commitment to peace and stability and reiterated Japan’s stance on diplomacy to pro
tect national interests. Takaichi also announced her intent to strengthen Japan’s national power across various sectors and revealed her nomination of Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The meeting concluded with the signing of two agreements focused on alliance strengthening and critical minerals security. The first agreement aims to enhance economic security and promote global prosperity, while the second establishes a framework for securing critical minerals and rare earths supply. Both nations plan to mobilize support for selected projects, with a bilateral ministerial meeting scheduled within 180 days.

Trump’s visit also included a meeting with families of Japanese citizens abducted by North Korea, reaffirming US support for resolving the issue. Later, Trump was scheduled to visit a US naval base and meet with Japanese business leaders before heading to South Korea for the APEC summit and a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
