Trump Raises Tariffs on Canada by 10% Over ‘Fraudulent’ Reagan Ad

Washington: US President Donald Trump has announced a 10% increase in tariffs on Canada, attributing the decision to a ‘fraudulent’ advertisement featuring former President Ronald Reagan that aired during the World Series. Trump indicated that legal options are currently under review regarding the ad, which he claims misrepresented Reagan’s speech on tariffs.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump expressed his discontent on his Truth Social platform, stating, “Canada was caught, red-handed, putting up a fraudulent advertisement on Ronald Reagan’s Speech on Tariffs.” The Reagan Foundation acknowledged the creation of the ad campaign, which utilized selective audio and video of Reagan, and admitted that permission was neither sought nor granted to use and edit the remarks.

In another significant development, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized Trkiye’s crucial role in regional political and security matters. Erdogan stated that no political or security equation, from Syria to Gaza and from the Gulf to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, can be formed without Trkiye’s involvement. He made these remarks at the closing session of the ‘Century of Trkiye Meetings’ at the Istanbul Congress Center.
