Washington: US President Donald Trump announced a $16 million settlement with Paramount Global regarding his lawsuit against CBS and the 60 Minutes TV program. The lawsuit concerned alleged unfair editing of an interview with Kamala Harris. Trump shared the news on Truth Social, emphasizing the significance of the settlement and accusing the corporation of defrauding the public.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump expects to receive an additional $20 million from new owners in advertising, public service announcements, or similar programming, bringing the total to over $36 million. This settlement aligns with Skydance Media's acquisition of Paramount, which required federal approval from Trump's administration.

The dispute arose over Trump's claims that CBS edited two versions of Kamala Harris's responses on Middle East issues during the 2024 campaign, leading him to file a lawsuit in the Northern District of Texas. The suit alleged that the editing amounted to election interference, favoring his Democratic opponent.

Amid the legal proceedings, Bill Owens, executive producer of 60 Minutes, and CBS News chief Wendy McMahon left their positions. Trump cautioned other media outlets, asserting that misleading the public would no longer be tolerated. He described this settlement as part of ongoing efforts to hold what he terms "Fake News Media" accountable for alleged fraud and deceit.
