Ankara: US President Donald Trump said Friday he is open to making a deal on auto tariffs and reciprocal tariffs if Washington can get something in return. Trump made statements to the media on Air Force One, in response to a question about a call with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. "I always loved Canada. We had a very good conversation," he said. He noted that there is an election in Canada and he will meet Carney after the election. According to Anadolu Agency, Trump stated that the US will soon announce tariffs on medicine and emphasized that Washington has to bring the production of pharmaceutical products back to the US. He stressed that the US never wants to rely on other countries on the issue, as seen during the coronavirus pandemic. Trump noted that Washington will apply tariffs at a rate that will be sufficient for pharmaceutical companies to bring their production to America. When asked about tariffs and reciprocal tariffs on automobiles, Trump said, "They want to make a deal. It is possib le if we can get something for the deal. But you know, they've been taking advantage of us for 40 years, maybe more, and it is not going to happen anymore. But I am certainly open to it."
