Beirut: President Donald Trump on Monday remained non-committal about the future of US-Iran negotiations, yet underscored that a significant military escalation remains a viable option. Speaking at the White House, Trump emphasized the United States' capability to undertake substantial military actions if deemed necessary, saying, "You'll find out," when queried about possible next steps following what he termed Iran's "last chance" in the ongoing talks.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump confirmed that the US has the power to escalate militarily, stating, "Well, we have that certain ability if we want to do that." He also highlighted the demand for compensation from Iran for damages accumulated over the past five decades, insisting, "If there's damages to be paid, I think Iran should pay those damages."

Addressing the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Trump assured that the waterway is currently "open" and under the control of the US Navy. He described the US naval presence as a "steel wall" which regulates entry and exit, ensuring the strait remains accessible while preventing passage to Iran. Despite acknowledging the potential for Iranian disruption, Trump claimed that US forces have successfully cleared mines from the area, asserting, "We've mine swept the entire strait, as you probably maybe heard, maybe you didn't hear. But we control the strait 100%."

Trump concluded by downplaying Iran's capacity to cause further issues, noting their financial constraints, "Now, can they make trouble? Yeah, they can make trouble, but they're broke. They have no money."
