Jerusalem: US President Donald Trump will visit Israel 'in the coming days,' Israeli President Isaac Herzog announced Thursday, as the government prepares to vote on a Gaza ceasefire deal with Hamas. Herzog's office confirmed that Trump's visit aligns with 'significant progress in talks on the release of hostages.'

According to Anadolu Agency, the exact date of Trump's visit remains undisclosed, but Israeli authorities have already announced heightened security measures and closures throughout Jerusalem. Israeli media, including public broadcaster KAN, previously reported on Trump's planned trip amid the ceasefire agreement news.

Israel's Security Cabinet met early Thursday to vote on the ceasefire agreement, which aims to end the two-year conflict in Gaza. The initial phase of the agreement involves an Israeli withdrawal to a pre-determined line and a prisoner exchange.

Last month, on September 29, Trump proposed a 20-point ceasefire plan for Gaza. The plan includes the release of all Israeli captives in exchange for approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, establishing a permanent ceasefire, and the gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

The second phase of Trump's plan suggests setting up a new governance mechanism in Gaza without Hamas' involvement, forming a security force comprising Palestinians and troops from Arab and Islamic countries, and disarming Hamas. It also calls for Arab and Islamic nations to fund the new administration and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, with limited input from the Palestinian Authority.
