Ankara: US President Donald Trump's approval rating has fallen to an all-time low in a new Quinnipiac University national poll released Wednesday, with voters expressing growing opposition to the US military action against Iran.
According to Anadolu Agency, the survey found that 32% of registered voters approve of Trump's job performance, while 58% disapprove. A majority of voters, 60%, expressed opposition to the US military action against Iran, with only 34% in support. The opposition was most pronounced among Democrats at 89% and independents at 69%, while 74% of Republicans supported the military action against Iran.
The survey further revealed that 74% of voters are against sending US ground troops into Iran, compared to 19% who favor such a move. Additionally, more than half of the voters, 55%, believe the military action will last about a year or longer, while 35% anticipate it continuing beyond a year.
The poll also highlighted skepticism about the effectiveness of the military efforts, with 54% of voters believing the US is not winning the war with Iran, whereas 36% think it is winning. Trump's ratings were also negative in other areas such as the economy, foreign policy, trade, and immigration.
Only 34% approved of his handling of the economy, while 62% disapproved. Furthermore, 59% of voters felt that the economy is deteriorating, and 49% reported being financially worse off than a year ago. On the issue of immigration, 40% approved of Trump's approach, while 57% disapproved.
The poll, which reflects growing discontent with the administration's policies, surveyed 963 registered voters nationwide from July 23 to 27.
