Turkey Conveys Concern Over Neutralized Iranian Munition Near Airspace

Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Wednesday expressed concerns to his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi regarding a ballistic munition launched from Iran that was neutralized near Turkish airspace.

According to Anadolu Agency, Fidan communicated via phone with Araghchi, emphasizing that any actions that might escalate the conflict should be strictly avoided. This conversation comes in the wake of a security incident involving a ballistic munition fired from Iran, which was intercepted by NATO air and missile defense units located in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Turkish National Defense Ministry disclosed through NSosyal, a Turkish social media platform, that the projectile had been detected after traversing through Iraq and Syria. It was subsequently engaged and neutralized by air defense systems, ensuring it did not pose a threat to Turkish airspace.
