Turkish Airlines Transports 34 Million Passengers in First Five Months

Istanbul: Trkiye's flag carrier, Turkish Airlines, announced Wednesday that it carried 34 million passengers in the first five months of the year with an occupancy rate of 81.2%.

According to Anadolu Agency, the number of passengers carried was up 3.7% compared to the same period of the previous year, as stated by Turkish Airlines. The number of international transfer passengers increased by 8.7%, reaching 13.6 million during the January-May period of 2025, compared to 12.5 million in the same period of 2024.

International and domestic passenger occupancy rates were recorded at 81% and 83.5%, respectively, over the five-month period. Total Available Seat Kilometers (ASK) grew by 5.2%, reaching 105.2 billion in the first five months of 2025 from 100 billion in 2024.

Cargo and mail volume also saw an increase of 2.7%, rising from 814,600 tons in 2024 to 836,200 tons in 2025. In May alone, Turkish Airlines carried 7.6 million passengers with an occupancy rate of 81.1%.

ASK in May 2025 increased by 6% to 22.6 billion from 21.3 billion in May 2024. The airline's international and domestic occupancy rates in May were reported at 80.6% and 86%, respectively. There was an 11.2% increase in international transfer passengers, totaling 2.8 million, compared to 2.5 million in May 2024.

The volume of cargo and mail carried in May rose by 5.1% to 183,400 tons, compared to the same period in 2024. As of the end of May, Turkish Airlines' fleet consisted of 484 aircraft.
