Washington: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in a significant discussion over the phone, addressing pressing global issues, including the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, the conversation, initiated by President Macron, also covered bilateral relations between Turkey and France, as well as regional matters. President Erdogan highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two nations and expressed his commitment to taking necessary steps towards achieving this goal.

In the context of the Russia-Ukraine war, President Erdogan conveyed Turkey's dedication to facilitating a peaceful resolution. He mentioned that Turkey is actively engaged in efforts to revive the Istanbul process, maintaining communication with both involved parties. Erdogan reiterated Turkey's readiness to contribute to opening the door to peace as soon as possible, utilizing diplomatic channels effectively to ensure lasting peace.

The dialogue between the two leaders also encompassed the situation in the Caucasus, Gaza, and Syria, emphasizing the importance of avoiding actions that could jeopardize global stability and hinder peace efforts.
