Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi engaged in a phone conversation on Sunday to deliberate over regional tensions and the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States.
According to Anadolu Agency, the discussion was prompted by recent developments in the region, with both ministers exchanging views on the status of Iran-US talks. This dialogue occurred against the backdrop of escalating regional tensions following an Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s Dahiyeh district, an action that breached an existing ceasefire agreement.
Iranian officials have strongly condemned the airstrike, asserting that Tehran will issue a response. Earlier in the day, the Iranian military claimed responsibility for targeting Israel’s Ramat David Air Base with ballistic missiles, identifying the base as a key site for Israeli operations against Lebanon.
