Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi engaged in discussions on Friday regarding the recent developments in negotiations between Tehran and Washington. The conversation was held over a phone call, as reported by Turkish diplomatic sources. According to Anadolu Agency, regional tensions have heightened following strikes by the US and Israel against Iran in February. In response, Tehran launched retaliatory strikes targeting Israel and US allies in the Gulf, and also moved to close the Strait of Hormuz. Despite these tensions, a ceasefire was initiated on April 8, facilitated by mediation from Pakistan. However, subsequent talks in Islamabad did not lead to a permanent resolution. US President Donald Trump later decided to extend the truce indefinitely, offering a temporary relief in the conflict.
