Ankara: Trkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud discussed the ongoing US-Israeli offensive on Iran during a phone call on Sunday. The conversation centered around efforts to bring an end to the conflict, which has escalated significantly in recent weeks.

According to Anadolu Agency, the hostilities intensified since February 28, following joint attacks by Israel and the US on Iran. These attacks resulted in more than 1,200 fatalities, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and several countries in the region, including Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states that host US military assets.

Furthermore, Tehran's decision to close the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial passage for oil transportation, has led to increased shipping and insurance costs, subsequently driving global oil prices higher. The closure of this vital waterway has added a significant economic dimension to the already tense geopolitical situation.
