Turkish and Uzbek Presidents Discuss Defense and Trade Cooperation in Turkistan

Turkistan: Trkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the Kazakh city of Turkistan during the Informal Summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), as announced by the Turkish Communications Directorate.

According to Anadolu Agency, the discussions between the two leaders focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional and global issues. A statement on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal revealed that Erdogan emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between Trkiye and Uzbekistan, particularly in the defense industry and trade sectors.

Erdogan expressed confidence that both nations would bolster their solidarity on international platforms. He extended invitations to Mirziyoyev for the upcoming OTS Summit and COP31, both of which are scheduled to take place in Trkiye.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, was attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Following the presidential discussions, Fidan participated in the Council of Foreign Ministers meeting as part of the OTS Informal Summit.
