Turkish Business Body Inks Deal with UNHCR to Boost Refugee Conditions

Istanbul: The Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (MUSIAD) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Trkiye Representation have signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing the conditions of refugees in Trkiye. The agreement, announced on Thursday, seeks to combine the private sector's social responsibility efforts with international humanitarian mechanisms.

According to Anadolu Agency, the signing ceremony took place in Istanbul and was attended by an array of business representatives and international officials, including MUSIAD President Burhan Ozdemir and UNHCR Trkiye Representative Angela Li Rosi. MUSIAD emphasized that the agreement is expected to merge the private sector's economic strengths with goals of social solidarity and cohesion.

The strategic cooperation with UNHCR focuses on creating sustainable opportunities in employment, education, and livelihoods for refugees. The partnership aims to enhance the economic resilience of refugee communities, facilitate their entry into the labor market, and promote social cohesion.

MUSIAD plans to encourage responsible participation from the private sector, increase the number of good practice examples, and promote an inclusive development approach through its extensive member network and business ecosystem.
