Turkish Central Bank Announces Measures to Strengthen Financial Markets

Ankara: Trkiye's central bank on Thursday announced a series of measures aimed at strengthening the functioning of financial markets and managing Turkish lira liquidity. The Central Bank of the Republic of Trkiye (CBRT) has taken these steps to ensure stability and operational efficiency in the country's financial system.

According to Anadolu Agency, the CBRT stated that it has reviewed its liquidity facilities in response to recent developments in financial markets. The bank plans to increase the amount of funding provided through one-week repo auctions as needed, taking into account the prevailing market liquidity conditions.

Additionally, the central bank will revise banks' borrowing limits at its Interbank Money Market. This decision will be based on the existing balance sheet aggregates of the banking system, allowing for more responsive adjustments to market conditions.

To further facilitate access to liquidity, the CBRT has announced that it will revise downward the collateral haircuts applied in its markets. This move is expected to make it easier for financial institutions to secure necessary funding.

The CBRT emphasized its commitment to closely monitoring liquidity conditions and stated that it would take any additional measures as required to maintain market stability.
