Turkish Communications Chief Welcomes Afghanistan-Pakistan Ceasefire

Ankara: Trkiye's Communications Director Burhanettin Duran on Sunday welcomed the ceasefire between Afghanistan and Pakistan, saying Ankara will continue supporting efforts to build trust, resolve disputes, and ensure lasting peace, particularly between the two 'brotherly nations.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Duran described the truce-reached through the mediation of Trkiye and Qatar-as 'a highly valuable step' toward peace and stability in the region. In a post on Turkish social media platform NSosyal, he emphasized the significance of dialogue and cooperation in replacing tension with collaboration, marking an important step toward regional peace and prosperity.

The ceasefire comes after a period of heightened tensions, following Pakistan's airstrikes in Afghanistan's Paktika province late Friday, which Kabul reported resulted in civilian casualties. The agreement on an immediate ceasefire was confirmed by both Pakistan and Afghanistan earlier on Sunday, as officials from both nations were engaged in talks in Doha.
