Turkish Defense Firm Aselsan Promises Rapid Delivery of Advanced Radar Systems to NATO Allies

Ankara: Turkish defense firm Aselsan can deliver many of its most advanced radar and air defense systems to NATO allies in less than two years, the company's CEO said. Speaking to Anadolu during a defense panel held as part of the 'Allies in Ankara Program' on the sidelines of the 36th NATO Summit of Leaders, Ahmet Akyol said Trkiye's defense industry ecosystem has reached a level where it can become one of the alliance's main suppliers.

According to Anadolu Agency, Akyol emphasized Trkiye's evolving role within NATO, highlighting that while the country's importance was once primarily geographical and military, it now also encompasses significant defense industrial capacity. He pointed out that Aselsan's production capabilities allow it to stand out from many European companies, as the firm has been able to deliver a substantial percentage of orders within the same year due to its enhanced industrial capacity.

Akyol noted that Aselsan increased its serial production capabilities by 40% over the past two years and is currently constructing one of the world's largest air defense infrastructures in Ankara, with an investment exceeding $2 billion. This expansion is supported by a dynamic innovation cycle and operational feedback from the field, which strengthens Trkiye's defense industry ecosystem of more than 3,000 local firms.

He further urged European governments to consider open competition to achieve higher-quality products at lower costs, asserting that the Turkish defense industry can offer superior solutions. Akyol concluded by expressing confidence that Trkiye and its defense industry will play a more significant role in enhancing NATO's security capabilities.
