Istanbul: Turkish defense companies Mesan Electronics and Esetron have jointly developed an unmanned robot designed to detect mines and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), which they unveiled at the International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul.

According to Anadolu Agency, the robot operates both autonomously and remotely, combining Mesan Electronics' advanced sensor technologies with Esetron's compact and durable robot platform. It is capable of detecting anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, IEDs, cables, tripwires, and trigger lines.

The robot features a versatile scan head that can be switched according to operational needs, enabling security forces to perform effective reconnaissance and detection operations in hazardous areas with reduced risk of casualties.

Developed for use in cross-border operations, counterterrorism efforts, mine clearance, and outpost perimeter security, the system offers a modular design that is lightweight and can be transported by a single person, making it quickly adaptable for various mission types.

The innovative robot has already attracted significant interest from countries in Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans, highlighting its export potential. The first deliveries of the robot system are scheduled for Turkish security units later this year.
