Ankara: Drawing on nearly 35 years of experience, Turkish firm FNSS is preparing to export its next-generation Pars Alpha eight-by-eight and six-by-six armored combat vehicle, which will also be used by the Turkish Armed Forces.

According to Anadolu Agency, Kerem Kaplan, domestic programs director at FNSS, highlighted that the Pars family is a field-proven product, with experience gained in Malaysia, Oman, and Trkiye. In February, Trkiye's Defense Industry Agency (SSB), BMC, and FNSS signed a 'Next Generation Vehicle Project.' Kaplan explained that land vehicles play a key role in this initiative.

The SSB conducted a four-year prototype competition and testing process, which Pars Alpha completed successfully. Following this, FNSS signed an agreement with the SSB in February to deliver Pars Alpha vehicles in eight different configurations, with plans to start deliveries in 2028. The T0 phase of the deal has begun, and the company is currently in the design review stage for the vehicle. Although some features have been verified during the prototype competition, more comprehensive testing awaits the vehicle. A qualification process of around a year will follow, leading to planned deliveries.

Kaplan mentioned that Pars Alpha is set to be unveiled for testing in 2027, but the firm aims to accelerate its efforts to begin the process earlier, hoping to see the vehicle in the battlefield by 2028. The vehicle's power unit is positioned at the front, offering the driver, commander, and crew clear visibility and coordination advantages. This front positioning distinguishes it from previous generations and competitors, potentially enhancing its reputation in export markets.

The vehicle is reportedly in high demand, with FNSS in discussions with multiple countries and nearing a deal with one in particular. Kaplan expressed excitement for the anticipated export success and the day the Turkish Armed Forces will deploy the Pars Alpha.
