Ankara: Trkiye's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Monday engaged in telephone discussions with his counterparts from Azerbaijan and Bulgaria to address ongoing regional issues, as reported by Turkish diplomatic sources.

According to Anadolu Agency, Fidan exchanged views on recent developments and efforts to halt regional attacks with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Nadejda Neynski. The conversations focused on the consequences of recent escalations and the importance of diplomatic efforts in mitigating further conflict.

The discussions come in the wake of heightened regional tensions that intensified on Saturday when the United States and Israel launched an offensive against Iran. The offensive was justified on the grounds of eliminating perceived threats, resulting in the deaths of several high-ranking Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In retaliation, Iran launched a series of drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and several Gulf countries housing US military assets. This series of events has prompted swift diplomatic engagements as nations in the region seek to de-escalate the situation and prevent further conflict.
