Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke to his Saudi Arabian counterpart Faisal bin Farhan over the phone, Turkish diplomatic sources revealed. The conversation revolved around the recent developments between Pakistan and India.

According to Anadolu Agency, the tensions escalated after India announced late Tuesday that it had launched strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, targeting what it described as "terrorist infrastructure" at nine sites. Pakistan reported that India targeted six locations, resulting in 26 fatalities and 46 injuries due to the strikes and cross-border firing along the Line of Control, which serves as the de facto border between the two countries.

The recent escalation follows an attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, where 26 people were killed. India has attributed the attack to cross-border links with Pakistan, an allegation that Pakistan has denied.

In response to the Indian strikes, Pakistan claimed on Wednesday that it destroyed five Indian fighter aircraft while defending its "territorial integrity" and asserted that it "reserves the right to respond."
