Ankara: Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) head Ibrahim Kalin on Thursday met with Aguila Saleh, the speaker of Libya's House of Representatives, and Mohammed Takala, the president of Libya's High Council of State, to discuss critical developments in Libya and the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, the meeting focused on steps to enhance Libya-Turkiye cooperation and ongoing efforts to achieve political and military unity in Libya while maintaining stability. The discussions also explored ways to make lasting progress on unresolved issues and reach a broad consensus among all parties involved.

The significant roles of the High Council of State and the House of Representatives in establishing stability and advancing the political process were emphasized. Both parties agreed on the importance of achieving political unity and unifying state institutions.

The agenda included the holding of Libyan presidential and parliamentary elections, resolving disputes over executive authority, and achieving full integration in military and political spheres-topics that have been under discussion for a long time without any concrete solutions.

The meeting in Ankara is seen as highly significant because it marks the first time the heads of the two institutions came together in Turkiye, making concrete progress on processes that had previously been at an impasse.
