Ankara: Turkish citizens and international activists who were aboard the Global Sumud humanitarian aid flotilla, intercepted by Israel in international waters, are anticipated to arrive back in Trkiye today through a special flight, Turkish officials announced.
According to Anadolu Agency, the flotilla was seized by Israeli forces, prompting the detention of its participants. Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Oncu Keceli communicated via US social media platform X, stating, "As a result of an unlawful intervention carried out by Israeli forces against the Global Sumud Fleet in international waters, our citizens and other participants who were detained have disembarked in Crete."
Keceli further mentioned that Turkish diplomatic personnel, including the Ambassador to Athens and consular staff, are currently in Crete to assist those affected. He confirmed that a charter flight has been arranged to transport the detained Turkish citizens and some international participants back to Trkiye today.
