Ankara: The Turkish parliament's General Assembly on Monday began deliberations on the National Solidarity Bill, a crucial component of the Terror-Free Trkiye initiative. Speaking on the bill, Felicity Party leader Mahmut Arikan emphasized the significance of the legislation, which addresses both the historical and future context of Trkiye's struggle against terrorism.

According to Anadolu Agency, Arikan highlighted the substantial efforts undertaken to tackle the nation's terrorism issues, noting that his party had consistently expressed its concerns and expectations concerning the Terror-Free Trkiye process. He emphasized that a sustainable resolution relies on the collective establishment of justice, adherence to the rule of law, and the promotion of social cohesion and unity.

New Path Party Group Chairman Mehmet Emin Ekmen remarked on the importance of considering the opposition's perspectives and suggestions regarding the bill. Ekmen acknowledged President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his effective leadership in advancing the process to its current stage and expressed gratitude to Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahceli for his supportive stance during the Terror-Free Trkiye initiative.

The National Solidarity Bill outlines procedures for suspending investigations, prosecutions, convictions, and related legal actions once authorities confirm that the PKK/KCK and related entities have ceased their activities and disarmed. The bill addresses offenses such as organizational membership, assistance, or promotion, as well as crimes committed in alignment with these activities, including terrorism-financing offenses conducted in support of the organization.
