Rio de Janeiro: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the sidelines of the G20 summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as announced by Trkiye's Directorate of Communications. The leaders engaged in discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations and tackling pressing regional and global issues. According to Anadolu Agency, President Erdogan emphasized the ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between Turkey and Australia. He highlighted the significance of addressing Israel's actions in Palestine and Lebanon, labeling them as a security threat not only to the region but also on a global scale. Erdogan stressed the importance of halting Israel's operations and establishing lasting peace, which he believes would contribute significantly to worldwide stability. In parallel, the situation in Gaza remains dire as Israel continues its offensive, initiated after a cross-border attack by Hamas in October of the previous year. This persists despite a Un ited Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire. Local health authorities report that the offensive has resulted in over 43,900 fatalities, predominantly affecting women and children, and left approximately 103,898 individuals injured. Furthermore, Israel is currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its actions in Gaza.
