Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Nepal's Prime Minister Sharma Oli engaged in a discussion about bilateral ties alongside regional and global issues during a phone call, as shared by Trkiye's Communications Directorate on X. Erdogan emphasized the significance of enhancing relations and underscored the necessity for tangible advancements, particularly in economic and trade cooperation between the two nations.
According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan also addressed Trkiye's diplomatic initiatives aimed at fostering peace in regions including the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, Ukraine, and Syria. He highlighted Ankara's commitment to halting renewed Israeli attacks in Gaza and reestablishing a ceasefire.
Oli acknowledged Trkiye's pivotal role in maintaining regional stability and pursuing enduring peace, as expressed by the Nepalese Foreign Ministry on X. He also appreciated Trkiye's "goodwill and support" in advocating for the release of Mr. Bipin Joshi, who has been held hostage by Hamas since October 7, 2023.
