Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan engaged in significant discussions over the weekend with his Bulgarian and Somali counterparts, focusing on bilateral relations and broader regional and global issues.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan communicated with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, where he emphasized Turkey's ongoing efforts to mediate peace between Ukraine and Russia. Erdogan acknowledged Bulgaria's delicate approach to the conflict, highlighting Turkey's initiative to host peace talks in Istanbul aimed at resolving the ongoing tensions.

Furthermore, Erdogan pointed out the strengthening ties between Turkey and Bulgaria, mentioning advancements in cooperation, particularly in the defense and energy sectors. He noted that both nations are making considerable progress in these areas, aiming to enhance their collaborative efforts.

In a separate call with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Erdogan reiterated Turkey's commitment to supporting Somalia's development goals through democratic means. He assured that Turkey would continue to bolster its assistance to Somalia in its fight against terrorism, reflecting Ankara's dedication to the nation's stability.

Erdogan also underscored Turkey's ongoing support in the energy and fishing sectors, expressing optimism about the potential for further cooperation between Turkey and Somalia in these fields.
