Ankara: Trkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset to deliberate on global and regional issues in a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Complex.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan emphasized the importance of maintaining constructive dialogue with the Council of Europe. He indicated that Ankara remains committed to cooperating with human rights mechanisms and the council. The president voiced his concerns over the increasing incidents of racism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia across Europe, urging the Council of Europe to be more proactive in addressing these issues.

Erdogan also highlighted the ongoing violence in Gaza, pointing to Israel's aggressive actions. He called on Europe to take a firmer stance by upholding international law and human rights. The meeting was attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Communications Director Fahrettin Altun, and Erdogan's chief adviser, Akif Cagatay Kilic.
