Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday engaged in discussions on regional issues with his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame and Democratic Republic of Congo President Felix Tshisekedi in separate phone calls, as announced by Trkiye's Communications Directorate.

According to Anadolu Agency, during the call with President Tshisekedi, Erdogan addressed the bilateral relations between Trkiye and Congo. He emphasized Trkiye's commitment to enhancing cooperation in several areas, including investment, trade, the defense industry, and security. Erdogan expressed support for ongoing efforts aimed at achieving a lasting resolution to the security challenges in eastern Congo. Additionally, he conveyed Trkiye's readiness to contribute constructively to the implementation of existing agreements.

In a separate discussion with President Kagame, Erdogan highlighted the positive developments in trade and investment between Trkiye and Rwanda. He reiterated Trkiye's intention to continue collaboration with Rwanda in various sectors, focusing particularly on the defense industry. Erdogan also acknowledged and welcomed efforts aimed at easing tensions between Rwanda and Congo, reaffirming Trkiye's support for the ongoing processes and the maintenance of a constructive dialogue between the two nations.
