Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday emphasized his nation's objective to promptly end the "senseless, unlawful, and extremely wrong war in Iran."

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdogan spoke at an iftar event held at the presidential complex in Ankara, where he strongly condemned any attacks that violate international law. He underscored Trkiye's efforts to prevent the escalation of the conflict, reiterating his country's commitment to managing the situation with patience and prudence, while taking necessary measures to mitigate the war's negative effects on the economy and its citizens.

Erdogan expressed sorrow over observing Ramadan amidst ongoing violence, highlighting Israel's continued attacks on Gaza and the occupied West Bank despite a ceasefire agreement reached on October 10. He mentioned that the situation worsened due to air operations launched against Iran on February 28, which he attributed to provocations by the Israeli government.

The Turkish President also noted that Trkiye has coordinated with NATO allies to address any violations of its airspace and security, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place.

The ongoing joint offensive by the US and Israel on Iran has led to over 1,300 fatalities, including the supreme leader and several senior military and political figures. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, impacting US military assets and causing significant casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.

Additionally, Israeli forces have escalated operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon, despite a ceasefire reached in November 2024, resulting in the displacement of nearly a million people.
