El arish: The 21st Goodness Ship, laden with humanitarian aid from the Turkish Red Crescent and bound for Gaza, successfully arrived at El Arish in northeastern Egypt on Saturday after setting sail from Mersin, Trkiye. This shipment marks a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to support Gaza’s population in the wake of the Rafah border crossing’s partial reopening earlier this month, which had been closed for nearly two years.
According to Anadolu Agency, the latest shipment consists of approximately 3,300 tons of humanitarian aid. This includes 175,000 food parcels, alongside an array of essential items such as food products, personal care items, clothing, shelter materials, water, and other critical supplies needed for daily living. Upon reaching El Arish, these aid materials are set to be transported into Gaza through the Rafah crossing, facilitated by coordination with the Egyptian Red Crescent.
Since October 7, 2023, the Turkish Red Crescent has been actively delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza through its Goodness Ship initiative. This effort is part of a larger strategy to bolster support for Gaza by collaborating with both public institutions and private sector partners. In response to the reopening of the Rafah Border Crossing on February 2, Trkiye has intensified its aid efforts, with plans to send an initial shipment of 20,000 containers to the region, thereby reinforcing the humanitarian support network.
